www.checksure.biz is a credit search company which also allows you to
comment on a company. First one to do it AFAIK. I am associated with this
company but not in a financial way just used to work for them.

Working in the credit information industry, it seems that payment
performance of a company is becoming increasingly important in assigning
risk to that company but getting that data is hard. Also, for smaller firms
it is more likely the directors of the company which you should check out
for credit worthyness rather than the company. Trouble there is, you need
their consent to do a credit check and you need some kind of license to even
do one anyway (from memory).

Not as far as I know. You can run credit searches on a company to see how
financially viable they are and so how likely they are to pay but I'm not
aware of anywhere that you can view more generally whether a company is good
or bad as a client.
Indeed I could imagine that being a bit of a legal hole, any such site would
need to present specific cases not just people making vague comments about
companies otherwise it would risk being slanderous and misleading.

Hi,

I got a really bad payer.. Is there anything on this site that might serve
as a pillory, a place where other freelancers go to to find out if a party
they want to work with is reliable??

I don't want to embarrass the site owners, so I'll divulge the company in a
later stage.
